The Procurement Technical Assistance Program (PTAP) is sponsored and brought to you by the State of New Hampshire Business Resource Center and the Defense Logistics Agency. This national program provides specialized and professional assistance to individuals and businesses seeking to learn about contracting and subcontracting opportunities with Department of Defense (DOD), other federal agencies, or state and local governments.

Specific assistance and more is provided in the following areas:

  • Market Research
  • Identifying Business Codes (NAICS, SICS, FSC & PSC)
  • Registering on all appropriate web sites (CCR, SBA & ORCA)
  • Matching a firm's product or service with that being purchased by the federal government
  • Interpretation of solicitations
  • Obtaining specifications
  • Locating Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARS,DFARS & CFRS)
  • Process Management Skills
  • GSA - General Services Administration schedules

The Department of Defense, Procurement Technical Assistance Program (PTAP) was established by congress in 1985 to assist private sector businesses in marketing goods and services to the Department of Defense (DOD). In 1991 the program was opened up to include all federal agencies.

Later in almost every state Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTAC) were created and funded by host states, universities, economic development centers and the Defense Logistics Agency to provide more direct service to businesses.
