Next Step Orthotics & Prosthetics, Inc. Named August “Innovation Rocks!” Award Winner

MANCHESTER– A custom-molded socket which fits over an amputee’s body and onto a prosthetic limb has led to Next Step Orthotics & Prosthetics, Inc. being named the “Innovation Rocks!” award winner by the New Hampshire Business Resource Center for the month of August.

The Manchester-based company features an onsite lab which creates custom fitted devices including an award-winning Silicone Ankle Foot Orthosis (SAFO) and the FLO-TECH APOPPS, an adjustable postoperative protective and preparatory system that provides protection from injury during the first stages of rehabilitation. Next Step prosthetists and clinicians work with research facilities and prosthetic manufacturers in developing new prosthetic technologies and components. Its clients are often invited to beta-test these technologies and products, giving them access to the latest developments in the field.

Most recently, Next Step has worked with its Manchester Millyard neighbor, DEKA Research and Development Corporation on a project for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to create an advanced upper body prosthesis for amputee soldiers.

“Next Step is providing incredible opportunities for amputees to live fuller and more active lives,” said New Hampshire Business Resource Center Director Roy Duddy. “With one eye on innovation and the other eye on providing personalized attention, this is outstanding New Hampshire company that is changing the world for the better.”
