Layoffs, Closures, Rapid Response

Companies experiencing a downturn in their industry or because of economic factors and anticipate employee layoffs may be eligible for services offered by NH Works.

In the event of a mass layoff, NH Works will coordinate with the employer to deploy its Rapid Response Program, which assists workers affected by a layoff or business closure. Services include:

  • Unemployment insurance
  • Job retraining
  • Health and human services programs
  • Vocational rehabilitation assistance
  • Career counseling
For more information about this program, contact Rapid Response.

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act ensures advance notice of qualified plant closings and mass layoffs. New Hampshire law requires any temporary or permanent layoff of 25 or more people to the New Hampshire Department of Employment Security. For more information, contact masslayoff@nhes.nh.gov.
